THE CHALLENGES OF LATIN AMERICAN RURAL HISTORY. TRANSCENDING TEMPORALITIES, SPACES AND BORDERS

FIRST CONGRESS OF THE LATIN AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF RURAL HISTORY (ALAHR)

The Latin American Association of Rural History (ALAHR) has been established as an international academic organization whose interest is to promote research, teaching and dissemination of rural/agricultural history of Latin America from colonial times to the present. With this purpose, the association convenes the First ALAHR Congress: The Challenges of Latin American Rural History. Transcending temporalities, spaces and borders, to be held in Mexico City under the joint sponsorship of the Centro de Estudios Históricos de El Colegio de México (COLMEX) and the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS). Both venues will host the congress from June 24 – 27, 2024, in hybrid mode (face-to-face and virtual). Since this is also the first meeting of the Association and the challenges for the future are many, we are especially interested in inviting researchers and students to meet in person, to engage in dialogue, and strengthen ties and networks.
